| How My Wilson's Disease was Discovered |
| I was diagnosed when I was 10 after several months of serious liver problems.
The first doctors treating me told my parents I would die from hepatitis.
They did a biopsy and did not test for WD, despite being told by my parents
that WD was in the family (an older cousin had severe WD). After changing Drs,
I was diagnosed with WD and put on penn, I recovered quickly, and have not had
any symptoms since. When I was 16, I had a liver biopsy, which showed I had a normal
liver. When I had a stroke near the birth of my daughter in 1989, I switched to zinc,
over the counter. Initially, the Dr. thought the penn might have led to the stroke,
After testing 2years later, the Dr. determined that it was not the penn.

| My Symptoms Before Treatment |
| In 1997, my blood tests indicated that my liver was beginning to have
problems. In Dec 1997, I had a biopsy, which showed there was
copper accumulation in my liver. I switched back to penn in Dec, and
as of Sept 1998 my blood tests are back to normal.
